But Christ came as a High Priest of the good things to come, with the grater and more perfect tabernacle not made with hands, that is, not of this creation. (12) Not with the blood of goats and calves, but with His own blood He entered the Most Holy Place once for all, having obtained eternal redemption. ---Hebrews 9:11,12
Some people think Jesus came to help us carry our burdens. “Oh, Lord,” they pray, “if You could just help me bear this disease until the end, I’d sure appreciate it. Maybe if You carry half, I could carry the other half.”
These people don’t realize what actually took place in redemption. They may understand that Jesus took their sins to the Cross and paid the price for their slate to be wiped clean. They may even realize that God doesn’t want them to take the condemnation for those sins back on themselves again.
But people need to realize that Jesus completed a full redemption for them. Not only did He take on Himself their sin, but their sickness and disease as well.
Just as we have known God doesn’t want us to live in sin, we ought to know God doesn’t want us to live in sickness and disease. Jesus paid the price to redeem us from both sin and sickness. He already carried it all for us. So He doesn’t want us to carry the burden of our sicknesses any more than He wants us to carry the burden of our sins. Sin and sickness are a part of the devil’s kingdom, and we are citizens of the kingdom of light! So, the plans of the devil should not be a part of our life or future.
You may say, “Well, I’m sick. See? The doctor has this X-ray. Everyone else that has had this had to do so and so and take this and that! The prognosis will be the same for me!” What I say to that is, “NO, you do not!” First we must realize that we are not normal. We are an heir of God and a joint heir of Jesus Christ. That makes us family with Jesus and God. Next, we have been redeemed from the curse of the Law. That law was established in Deuteronomy 28 for being disobedient and a sinner. As a child of God, you have already asked God to wash you of all your sins and make you as white as snow. When Jesus died on the cross, He took all your sins, all your sickness and all your disease.
So, with your diagnosis from the doctor, you must start confessing what Jesus has done for you. Speak it out loud. Tell the devil who you are in Christ. Refuse to accept anything the devil has to offer and tell him that if he wants to put anything on you, he has to go to Jesus first, because Jesus is the one who carries your sins, diseases and burdens. Next, you must start speaking to your body. Tell it to line up with the Word of God and declare that “No weapon formed against you will prosper.” This is faith! It is what you believe and your confession is the action you must take.
It may take one minute, one day, or one year to see a difference in your symptoms, but this is the reason Jesus died for you; that you may live in victory to tell others about the goodness of God. Go ahead. Give it a try and see if it doesn’t come true for you.
Confession: I’ve been redeemed from the curse of the Law. I refuse to carry the burden of sickness, because Jesus already bore my sicknesses and carried my pains. By His stripes, I am healed!
